and The Life Skills Curriculum

Help us Break the Chain In the United States, nearly one in 40 children has a parent in prison. No government agency is directly responsible to deal with the impact of the judicial system on children and families. Social problems such as poverty, substance abuse, crime, teen pregnancy, and truancy almost always get worse when a parent is imprisoned.* Unfortunately, an incarcerated parent’s history often repeats itself in the lives of their children.
When you sponsor Listen and My best Friends magazines for children of prisoners, you provide hope and strategies for a better future. Please dream with us. Help us Break the Chain. Contact me today!

It’s tough for young people to make good choices when their parents have made bad ones.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could help stop this cycle and offer hope for a higher future?
Dream big dreams with us.
For over 50 years, Listen and My Best Friends magazines have been encouraging middle, junior high and high schools students to make positive life choices. Cover stories feature famous, drug-free role models for teens to imitate. True stories illustrate the high cost of self-destructive behaviors, while other articles suggest hobbies and sports as healthy alternatives.
However, it is often the children and teens who could benefit the most that are the least able to afford these magazines. This is especially true with the children of prisoners, whose families frequently struggle to find enough money for shelter, food, and clothes.
We realize that many worthy programs are in need of funding, and it can be overwhelming to try to decide whom to help. Nevertheless, with such a vast number of children at risk of repeating their parents’ mistakes, we dream of providing the hope of a different future for those children.
